Getty Spill Update 6-13-13

Getty gas spill remediation work performed last night was successful in eliminating the hazard to properties within the inclusion zone. Therefore all evacuations will not be required at this time. All regular business hours can resume. Remediation work and monitoring will continue during the day. Please continue to check the town web page for updates.

Help Wanted – Parks Department

The LaGrange Parks Department is now accepting applications for a full-time maintenance worker. Desirable qualities: self motivated, personable, mechanical ability/handyman, and able to lift 70 pounds. Applications can be picked-up at the LaGrange Town Hall Recreation Office.

Getty Spill Update

Due to the clean up from the Getty station gas spill on Route 55 (near the Arlington High School entrance), Route 55 will be closed starting Wednesday, June 12, 2013, from 8 pm to 6 am. A detour with traffic control will be on site to assist the public, however we are recommending that the public makes every attempt to find another route. The evening closure will continue until all remediation work is complete, which is anticipated to be approximately 3 to 4 nights. If you have any questions, please contact NYSDEC Division of Environmental Remediation – Regional Spill Engineer John O’Mara at 845-494-9786 or contact the Town of LaGrange Department of Public Works at 845-452-8562. The Town will continue to update this webpage as information unfolds.

Safety Alert

It has come to our attention that the safety gate between Heartstone Drive and Industrial Street is being breached by someone. If anyone sees that gate being accessed, please notify the Town Clerk’s office 452-1830 ext. 2 and/or the Fire Department at 471-4693.

Getty Spill Remediation & Restoration

Remediation and restoration work from the gasoline spill at the Getty Station on Route 55 will commence next week. Work is scheduled for the evening with potential/periodic Route 55 road closures between 8 pm and 6 am. A detour will be established to assist the public, however our recommendation is that you make every effort to avoid the area. Work may start as soon as Tuesday, June 11 and is anticipated to continue for 3 days to a week. We will update this website to provide you with the most up to date information.

Getty Gas Spill

As you may be aware on Monday (June 3, 2013) evening there has been a gasoline spill at the Getty Station on Route 55 across from the Arlington High School entrance. The NYSDEC Spill Response Division is currently and actively in charge of the clean up, and handling/overseeing the team performing the work. Clean up started immediately and will continue until the NYSDEC deems it complete. The Dutchess County Department of Health is working with the clean up team to ensure that the private wells in the area are safe for drinking water. The Health Department has stated that this does NOT pose a threat to those wells/public water supplies however baseline samples will be collected and analyzed.

We are anticipating the cleanup work to continue next week during the night and there is the potential for shut downs to Route 55. As soon as more information is available we will be providing it on this website.
