LaGrange Supervisor Jon Wagner and Wappinger Supervisor Chris Colsey were provided with a guided tour of the latest construction underway at the much anticipated Dutchess rail trail.

County Executive Bill Steinhaus and DPW Commissioner Charlie Traver were the “tourguides” yesterday, and showed the Supervisors the progress being made along the trail. The tour began at the trailhead located off Rte 82 in E. Fishkill and ended at Morgan Lake in Poughkeepsie.

Tree and brush removal has been ongoing and several bridges and culverts are now actively being repaired. Major crossings over the Sprout Creek, Maloney Rd. and Titusville Rd. are moving forward as scheduled.

It is anticipated that the Rail Trail will be completed from Rte 55 behind Page Lumber (adjacent to Quinlan Gas) through to Hopewell Jct. by November of this year. The bridge over Rte 55 and the Wappingers Creek will occur at a later date.

The segments currently open are being enjoyed by thousands of people already. TheTown of LaGrange will certainly benefit from this “linear park” through our community, which will further connect us to our neighbors!

We will keep you posted on the trail’s development while it is under construction
